Welcome New Students

Congratulations on your admission to Rice University, and welcome to the Mathematics Department! My name is Lucia Berecova, and I am the Graduate & Undergraduate Program Administrator. Throughout your time at Rice, I’ll be one of your primary points of contact and am here to help make your academic experience as smooth as possible. If you ever have questions about your studies, department processes, or campus resources, feel free to reach out. No question is too small, and I’m always happy to help or point you in the right direction. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting your success at Rice.

GETTING STARTED: KEY INFORMATION & NEXT STEPS

All new international students are required to complete their immigration check-in with OISS as soon as possible after arrival in the United States and attend their respective orientation programs.
Important Onboarding Checkpoints for all new graduate students:

 Submit Health Data Form to Student Health Services (due July 15) to avoid registration holds.
 Enroll in or waive Student Health Insurance coverage by August 31.
 Complete the Mandatory In-Person First-Year Doctoral Orientation.
 Complete the Mandatory In-Person Mathematics Department Orientation.
 Pay any outstanding balances not covered by your funding package by September 10.
 Submit your final transcripts directly to your department administrator by October 1.
